Hi Debs Welcome to the forum. I'm Sue and was diagnosed last autumn. I was doing OK but am having problems with my white blood count so am feeling a bit unsettled at the moment. I keep a symptom diary and I have found this really useful. For a start I can never remember exactly when thing happen so it helps with rheumy appointments. But it is also as it makes me realise there are times when I do feel OK. I'm also from Hampshire but go to Salisbury hospital. Hope things soon feel better Sue

Hi everyone thanks again for all the replies. Heather - I was diagnosed at the Royal Hampshire Hospital, Winchester they also have a very good rheummy department. I am still feeling very tired. I go back to see the rheummy nurse on the 28th/9 and I see the consultant again in December. It hasn't helped that I've had a really stressful weekend as my mum was admitted to hospital but hopefully she will be out later today and I shall sleep well tonight! Take care Debs

Hi Debs
Sorry for the late post, a big welcome to the forum.
I hope all is now well with your mum and that she has returned home from the hospital. Stress can play a huge part in how we feel, and no doubt hasn t help you over recent days. Wishing you a good nights sleep that you so dearly need.
Take care, Julia x

Hi Deborah, sorry for the late reply!!! I totally understand how you are feeling now, I was there a year ago. Now, well, I just say, what I can do I will do, and that about the only way I can cope with it. I am Barbara, married to Roy two sons and two daughters, youngest is 17 and doing her A levels. I am 57. My disease is not controlled very well, so far, but I keep hoping!!! Everyone here has given you lots of advice and support, so keep posting and let us know how you are. I dont get on here so much as I am working full time caring for children, and am totally exhausted by the evening lol!!! Take care of yourself, and try not to worry, after all, no one really knows what is around the corner!!! BARBARA

Helloooo and welcome to the forum Debs
I'm Helly, 35yrs old and was born with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, although it wasn't diagnosed until I was almost 3.
RA went into remission when I was 12 thanks to a combo of steroids and methotrexate but came back last September... Luckily it looks like I'm kicking butt with current meds, hydroxychloroquine and etodolac.....
The fatigue is one of the big side effects of RA and some days can seem worse than others... even something as simple as changing bedsheets can leave me wanting a kip. It does take time and a bit of planning/pacing but you'll soon find your rhythm. Self management is key
Looking forward to seeing more of your posts and getting to know you

Hi Everyone Just to let you know that mum is ok and out of hospital. I am still feeling very tired but I am resting as much as possible and I am determined to remain positive. I realise that it will take a while to adjust to having RA and to adapt my life accordingly. I have a very supportive husband - we celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary on the 23rd of September. The one thing that is really taking some getting used to is that fact that I cannot walk very far at the moment as my feet become really painful - thank goodness for comfortable footware I have never been one for high heels!!!! Take care Debs xx
